Berliner Weisse is a specialty of Berlin: it's a top fermented, bottle conditioned. wheat beer.
Because it is tart and acidic Berliners mix it with either raspberry or woodruff juice and drink it through a straw (which is quite controversial in Germany).
Napoleon liked his Berliner Weisse without syrup and called it "the champagne of the North".
In the US about 100 years ago this type of beer, made according to the Berliner Weisse method, was the most popular beer in the US.

On our honeymoon in Spain we went on a day trip f…moreOn our honeymoon in Spain we went on a day trip from our rented 200 year old cottage. We chose Sevilla, Spain.
"According to legend, Sevilla was founded by Hercules and its origins are linked with the Tartessian civilisation. It was called Hispalis under the Romans and Isbiliya with the Moors. Its high point in its history was following the discovery of America."
We were told from researching websites like http://www.andalucia.com/home.htm
On this day 6/21/06 it must of been 115 degrees out. My husband and I decided to get a refreshment and something to eat. Our spanish was minimal and we carried our little black book of translations and basic sentences. We sat down ordered a beer an as we were admiring all of the senery when this African man smiled and all I could think of was to tell him "luna la miel" (I was told it meant honeymoon". Once I said that he sang to us and this is what it sounded like. I have no idea what it means. Enjoy.
I have to appologise about the fact you have to turn your head. I couldn't figure out how to flip it.

Surrounded by olive groves and right on the Ionia…moreSurrounded by olive groves and right on the Ionian sea, on Italy’s southern tip near the village of San Gregorio is the Hotel Montecallini.
The Hotel was built on a hilltop on the plan of the ancient masseries, the old apulian farmhouses as a comfortable 4 star resort, a few steps from one of the most pristine seas in Italy.
Like the old farmhouses it has its own orchard where seasonal fruits and vegetables are grown for its kitchen.
Their family restaurant on the beach right below the hotel is a hot spot and serves the freshest local sea food.
From San Gregorio one can hire a boat to ride along the coastline which is dotted with Paleolithic caves and endless coves for bathing. The trip continues to Leuca and its lighthouse. This is the southernmost tip of the peninsula where the Ionian sea and the Adriatic sea meet.
If one is in the mood for culture the city Lecce is very close by. This is a jewel of a baroque city with dramatic architecture and a lively scene. Highly recommended.
