It serves multiple functions, housing the local administration, and the Mayor of Paris. Notre Dame first built in the 12th Century is often reputed to be one of the most prominent examples of Gothic architecture in both France and in Europe as a whole. The École Militaire ,founded by Louis XV in 1750, is a vast complex of buildings housing various military training facilities located in the 7th arrondissement next to the Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the toweras the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It is located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula, present-day Mexico. It is one of the most important examples of the Mayan-Toltec civilization in Yucatán. Chichen Itza was a major regional center in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classic through the Terminal Classic and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period. The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called “Mexicanized” and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion. Unesco has declared Chichen Itza a World heritage Site less
